| What details do you need to prepare a chart? What if you don't know your time of birth?
|
|
|
To prepare your chart we ideally need the Date, Time and Place of your birth.
Many people can't find out their Time of Birth. Yes, the time is important -
- without it we can't work out your Rising Sign or Ascendant. But read on... we can still
prepare a special chart for you without this information.

Should I allow for summer or daylight savings time? |
If you do know your time of birth, make sure you give us the local time - that's 'on the clock' when
you were born. We will make any necessary adjustments for overseas Time Zones
or Daylight Savings or Summer Time.
|
How accurate does the time of birth have to be? |
We would like a time of birth to within an hour. If you knew your time was between 2pm and 4pm, a chart for 3pm is likely to be 95% valid. Between 2pm and 6pm (4 hours) is likely to be 75% valid.
|
Is a Horoscope less accurate without a time? |
Not in the case of our charts. Because we don't estimate a time of birth or set an artificial time of say midday or sunrise, the information that you will receive from us will be valid throughout the day. If we were to use a time that was more than an hour before or after the correct time of birth, up to 25% of the chart will be invalid. The limitation of an Equinox Flat Chart is that it is shorter. With a time of birth, a Year Forecast can be anything from 20 to 35 pages depending on your year, while a flat chart will be 20 to 28 pages on average. |
Why is the Equinox Flat Chart accurate? |
My first 20 years as an astrologer were spent in London. Though astrology is immensely popular there, those born in England (plus Wales and Ireland) do not have a time written on their birth certificate unless they are a twin. Rather then fob many English, Welsh and Irish people off with an inaccurate chart or deny them the opportunity to benefit from astrology, a lot of research went into creating a system that overcomes this problem. For example if you were born at a time when the ascendant or moon sign was changing, the alternative is included giving you the choice. Where the timing of a transit forecast requires a precise time, a note is included stating how a change in the time would affect the accuracy. In a flat chart, natal or transiting planets in houses or in aspect to the Midheaven and Ascendant are excluded.
